I am thinking (only thinking!) about selling the beetle and getting a camper. I was wondering if anyone as any advise on what model age etc to go for. I wouldn't mind something late. Also any advise on what I would have to pay to get something decent!

also are the water-cooled vans much harder to work on than aircooled?

I really want to sandblast the beetle chassis to take it right back and re-paint

would you guys recommend this method?

I started by chopping back ALL the steel affected. First were the passenger side sills and the remains of the rear cab step. Then onto the floor and this goes back under the bed as an additional storage space but as the tilt bolt holes in the bed were open this has allowed the water in that has caused the rot to this floor and the sills. so all effected metal was removed and believe me some was like tinfoil ... The plan is to put a set of 4.5 inch chromes on the front with smart car tyres then drop at as much as i can and also drop the back a spline or two.
