Passar Rear Door Lock

The rear door on my 2002 Passat estate won't lock or unlock with Central locking, but locks fine with handle. My regular garage looked today (cos it has been irritating me and qoted just under £200!!

Any suggestions? Apparently the solonoid is prob gone but comes as big sealed unit and then labour involves taking out elec window motor as well....

I can live with as is but if anyone has a better idea (or a s/h lock) it would help.

It is drivers side rear.

thanks

Help.... please....

Picked up the Vento this morning (see 'show us your dubs' thread)

Drove all the way back from Wisbech - no problems. Drove like a dream, didn't thrash her. Just a lovely gentle run home.

Went to fill her up with fuel on arrival in peterborough and coolant level indicator came on. Topped up the water fine but then heard running water from under the car. Managed to track down the source of the water to one of the core plugs (God bless mobile phone cameras!)

Could someone help me please? My T25 engine is knackered. It was a 1600 turbo diesel. I'm finding it hard to get hold of this engine. What i have managed to source is an R reg TDi Golf 1.9. Would this engine be compatible with my T25? Some people have told me i need to look for an engine with a cable on the diesel pump and not a wire. Does anyone know how to wire these things up? Cheers Tony

Just taken the Head off my VR6 engine and found out why the head gasket has gone!

It's abit of a design fault really as the water ways in the block are way bigger than the water ways in the head so water just sits against the surface of the head! this in time eats away and seriously pits the surface, infact on my head it's so bad it's got too close to the edge of the cylinder and has pitted up to the metal ring of the gasket so I don't think it will seal any more at all! so now the water ...

This is fair enough I would expect it to question is how far can I push my luck....?

Notionally.... imagine the stupidly wide rear arches and a ridiculous door hinge extension are done that would be needed

(i.e. spare me the obvious lecture about the door opening that I'd get on brick-yard)
